OPEN is an interdisciplinary research proposal, merging dance and sound performance, that explores the relationship with space, silence, listening, stage presence, and the uniqueness of real-time composition, inherent to the language of improvisation.
Leticia Sekito and Daniel Verano are artists who have consistently engaged in artistic experimentalism and improvisation, bringing into play specific personal interests related to their artistic trajectories.
OPEN is an artistic encounter where chance, risk, and the act of being together in an open, fragile, and vulnerable field are a choice and a poetic, artistic, and political stance, directly connected to the language of improvisation. Presenting this research to the public in its early stages is also part of the coherence and creative approach of improvisation. The aim is to experience, share, and create an environment of exchange and cross-pollination between movement and sound through an open sensory, perceptual, and visual communication. Chaotic simplicity and the modulation of vital, creative, and erotic energies present both a challenge and a permeating force in the open process.
Initiated in October 2024, the project, in addition to the artists' engagement, has so far received support through space sessions at CRD (São Paulo’s Reference Center for Dance), Oswald de Andrade Cultural Complex, and the production efforts of Corpo Rastreado.
