Love That_____ is a dance-based process that blends, blurs, and flirts heavily with performance. It draws influences from butoh, dance-theater, and contemporary dance—after all, creating dance in the present inevitably makes it contemporary.
This work began in 2018, evolving through multiple process openings that sparked poetic provocations—questioning, aligning and misaligning, feeling through the construction of love in our society, the experience of our bonds, our desires, our wants, and our struggles.
Over time, we came to understand love as a spectrum, something we continuously slide through. In 2024, we received a funding, which allowed us to conduct new process openings as part of the research. Now, we are pushing deeper, exploring layers we haven’t revealed yet.
And that’s what we’re bringing to Farofa. Love That____ , a title with a blank space for the audience to fill in with their own experiences of love, shaped by how they perceive and are moved by the work.
Bio:
The Claricena Group was founded in 2013 based on university research inspired by Clarice Lispector. Over time, it established itself as a theater group. Among its main works are three plays based on the author. The group has also developed audiovisual projects, such as the web series Surviving Is Salvation Because It Seems That Living Does Not Exist (2020) and other transmedia experiences. Currently, it maintains research centers in São Paulo, exploring the aesthetics of epiphany and expanding remote access to its work.
