celestial body emerged when I began studying Pluto — the so-called "dwarf planet," a term that, besides being inaccurate, deeply bothered me. As I delved into Pluto’s characteristics, I found striking parallels to my own body, which also has dwarfism. The way Pluto was expelled from the planetary system for not adhering to expected norms mirrors the experience of disabled bodies—especially bodies with dwarfism—which do not conform to standard expectations.
From this research, I started crafting a text in a more poetic and metaphorical way, comparing my body to this planet—my body, which, in itself, is an entire world, a universe of its own. These metaphors and analogies also led to a deeper exploration of a theme that profoundly moves me: the sexuality of disabled bodies.
Beyond discussing existence outside societal norms, Corpo Celeste also challenges perceptions of beauty and desire. It asserts that a body outside the norm can be beautiful, attractive, desired—and desiring. It is not just an object of curiosity but a body that longs, that feels pleasure, that desires other bodies—other planets. Each body is its own celestial body, and none need to follow the imposed rules.
Through dance, theater, and poetic text, Corpo Celeste weaves these comparisons, inviting reflection on identity, desire, and the cosmic beauty of every body.
