THE PERFORMING KITCHEN PRESENTS:
LUNCH – VEGETAL LOVES
Year 2025 of the Anthropocene Ingestion
The Performative Kitchen offers a celebratory lunch as an inaugural ritual. Everything will be laid on the table: fruits, flowers, roots, greens, thoughts, and varied affections. Cooking is a political and poetic act. We are filled with desires to ingest, experiment, bite, and savor.
Our ingredients will be sourced from Armazém do Campo, the MST cooperative, one of CORPO RASTREADO’s partners in this edition of Farofa. The lunch will be prepared and served by Marcos Moraes (creator of the Performative Kitchen), Natalia Barros (poet and performer), and members of ESTUFA URBANA, a group of eleven people embarking on a six-month artistic research and creation process.
For years, Moraes has been working within this “art-kitchen” configuration, bringing together artists from multiple disciplines. The creation of collaborative environments requires an exercise in otherness and the production of dramaturgies of encounter. There is drumming in the kitchen, and art in transformation.
We declare our vegetal love in communication with the soil from which we are made!
"We call nutrition this strange operation that resembles an alchemical mystery far more than a physiological necessity."
(*) Emanuele Coccia – Metamorphoses
This project is supported by the 37th edition of the São Paulo Municipal Dance Promotion Program.
Bio:
The Performative Kitchen - Marcos Moraes & Collaborating Artists
When Marcos Moraes decided to return to creation after a period dedicated to management, production, and cultural activism (in the first decade of the 2000s), he had accumulated diverse experiences in the field of live arts and mediation processes. Combined with his therapeutic training in Human Development, these experiences led him to explore new artistic approaches. The response was the creation of The Performative Kitchen, a collaborative, interdisciplinary platform that invites artists to come together and create around shared themes.
The Performative Kitchen took shape in 2013, following the conclusion of the DatingSoccerFood project (2011/2012), which was driven by the desire for encounters as catalysts for creative processes centered on alterity.
This led to the creation of Performative Dinners (later transformed into Kitchen Conversations), which nurtured collaborative processes. In its first phase (2014 – Year of the Horse), the initiative engaged over thirty artists and professionals who produced photographic essays (by Marcella Haddad and Yuri Pinheiro), videos (notably Sabroso, directed by Osmar Zampieri), a book (created by Edith Derdyk, organized by Ana Teixeira, with graphic design by Ruth Alvarez), an installation (by Marcos Moraes), a performance (a collaboration between Marcos Moraes and Sheila Ribeiro), and the solo show Anatomy of the Horse (directed by Luis Ferron, with bodywork guidance by Ana Teixeira), which toured several cities across Brazil.
