Cyborg Woman-Plant-Machine Experiment is an exploration where we dive into a delirious dream—the dream that changing species is possible. This dream unfolds through the incorporation of body extensions, prosthetics, and devices that form a hybrid between plant and metal.

These plants are primarily epiphytes—species known for their resilience and incredible survival capacity. They create a bionic ability within the body, but this bionic quality is one of perception—an enhancement of sensitivity. It’s an expansion of awareness in the sense of becoming more attentive, welcoming, and affectionate.

These extensions are also designed with the prerequisite that they be made by the performer—the one who dances, the one who operates them. They are dreamed, created, and handcrafted by the performer as an act of enchantment, a spell of sorts—one that grants the individual an expanded perceptive capacity.

This experiment also emerged from an encounter with a plant that had its own prosthetics, inspired by the observation of resilient plants that thrive even in concrete environments. It evokes the strength to connect with beings and dimensions beyond the human experience, pushing past the constraints of an anthropocentric worldview.

This reconditioning of perception happens through biodesign, where minimal effort and resistance are the guiding principles of creation.

Bio:

Carolina Sudati a.k.a. Translúcida Bruta
is a Brazilian dance and performance artist who investigates the relationship between the body and wearable devices, interested in the conversion of psycho-emotional limitations into movement expansions. The successive creation of feminine becomings is present in her projects Noiva (2011), Mosca-Branca (2016), Ave ou Penas (2017), SUCESSO – Estudo para o Fracasso (2017), Experimento Cyborg Mulher-Planta-Máquina (2018), Perfeita e a Corrida do Ouro (2021), and Ex-Babilônias (2023), where ruptures and reconnections with rhythm and the natural environment are constantly explored at the intersection of territory, prosthesis, and body.

Together with associated artists, especially visual artist and designer Leo Ceolin, multi-instrumentalist Jose Bárrickelo, and photographer Mayra Azzi, she creates performance-installations, video performances, and wearable devices in different contexts and funding programs such as ACCC, Arte Serrinha, Mas Els Igols, SESC, FCD, MinC, and ProAc.

She is increasingly dedicated to studying obscure ecologies, which have emerged from processes of vegetal hacking and material manifestations linked to minerals, neo-extractivism, and post-industrialism. Her research through artistic means follows specific parameters that include trance practices and consciousness expansion.

She shares her processes through laboratories that map the subtle field of collectives and communities, converting them into raw wearable manufactures, generating dances and performative actions. Since late 2019, she has intensified her creative work in territories and in direct contact with the communities that inhabit them, establishing a transit between the rural zones of Piracaia and Bragança Paulista and the urban space of the São Paulo megalopolis.

She is part of the South American platform Observatorio de la Agonía, alongside artists Luis Carvolan (CH), Mecha Mio (AR), and Cristian Espinosa (CH).
